Thursday November 12

1:00 PM  –  2:00 PM

Join actress Anne Van Curen for a powerful portrayal of Lydia Kear Whaley, known to her mountain neighbors as Aunt Liddy. A midwife, healer, and Civil War widow who lived in Sugarlands from 1840 to 1926, Aunt Liddy was a legendary figure of the area, featured in the first chapter of “Women of the Smokies.”

Known for her performances as Emma “Grandma” Gatewood, Anne brings Aunt Liddy’s story to life in this moving monologue. Experience a glimpse into the grit, heart, and history of mountain life and a time gone by.
