Thursday March 27

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

In this class you’ll learn to tune in to the secret language of the forest and learn the tools to start identifying local birds by their songs and calls. Using a simple and systematic approach, you will take your birding skills to the next level by learning to listen for and recognize key features in birdsongs that provide clues to the identity of the singer. By listening closely, you’ll begin to hear more details and distinct qualities in birdsongs, which make each one beautifully unique.

By gaining an understanding of qualities such as pitch, volume, speed, rhythm, texture, and repetition, anyone can learn to identify birds by sound. No birding or musical experience is necessary! While birders of any level may enjoy this class, beginner to intermediate birders will find it most useful.
