Admire the deep gorge of the Pigeon River surrounded by the Appalachian mountains from Mt. Cammerer fire tower – the only stacked-stone fire tower in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Mileage: 13 miles maximum. Download a FREE park trail map.

Activity rating: Strenuous. This event is recommended only for experienced hikers due to elevation gain/loss and potential hazards such as navigating a backcountry trail with down trees, exposed roots and rocks, and the possibility of water crossings. Learn more by reading Hiking Trails of the Smokies.

What to bring: In your day-pack loaded with your hiking safety gear, make sure you bring enough food and water for your comfort. Wear good shoes with soles made for hiking and bring all-weather gear (we go rain or shine).
