Hike - Meigs & Curry Mountain Trails

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday April 27

8:00 AM  –  4:00 PM

Guides: Lloyd & Charlene Shiver

Our day will begin with a short trek along Jakes Creek Trail until we pass a small waterway, an old homesite and a rock wall. At this time we'll veer left onto Meigs Mountain trail and begin our ascent through open woods of tulip trees and maples spotting the landscape between more traces of home and farm sites that once spotted this historically rich area.

When we arrive at the junction of Meigs and Curry trails, we take a short hike along Curry Mountain trail before heading back to our vehicles in Elkmont.

Activity rating: Moderate to strenuous depending on your ability.
Mileage: 8 miles maximum
What to bring: In addition to plenty of water, an appropriate amount of food for your comfort and comfortable hiking shoes, we recommend that you dress in layers, bring your backpack and rain gear. A personal first-aid kit and trekking poles may be helpful as well.
About our guides: Originally from Palatka, Florida, Great Smoky Mountains Association members Lloyd and Charlene Shiver moved to the Appalachian Mountains to deepen their connection with Great Smoky Mountains National Park and all it has to offer in the way of hiking trails, cultural history and it's wondrous diversity of life. Lloyd is regularly hiking to complete all the trails on the GSMNP trail map and Charlene is working as a GSMA Marketing and Membership Associate.
