Learn the skills you need to identify trees, shrubs, and wildflowers with a naturalist. As we explore various forest types of the Smokies, we’ll discover the great diversity of flora for which the Smokies is famous. Topics covered will include how elevation affects forest type, plant ecology, natives versus non-natives, and the future of our trees. We’ll take to the trail from low to high elevation, so come prepared to do some short hikes.

Meeting Location: Sugarlands Visitor Center
Settings & Terrain:
• Uneven trails
• Potential hazards, including exposed roots, downed trees, and rocks
• Potential wildlife presence, including large fauna, insects, and snakes
Recommended Gear:
• Comfortable and sturdy shoes or boots.

Guest Fee: $100
As a member, you are encouraged to bring along a guest. This fee includes admission to this event and an Individual Buckeye membership for your guest.
Non-Member Fee: Not available. Branch Out events are offered exclusively to GSMA members. Please purchase a membership prior to joining this event.
