In this class, you’ll learn how to recognize the unique tracks and signs left by local wildlife and experience the forest come alive with stories, mysteries, and hidden wonders. We’ll discuss the “Six Arts of Tracking” and learn to read and interpret the hidden clues left on the landscape.
Using non-technical language and simple techniques, you’ll find out which features to focus on next time you find a track and how to differentiate between the prints of similar species. You’ll also gain an understanding of the amazing life histories of some of the wildlife of Southern Appalachia by exploring the unique signs left by foraging, marking, burrowing, and nesting behaviors. No scientific or wildlife background necessary! Beginners are welcome.
