On our hike, we will pass through an old-growth forest, walk behind Grotto Falls, and enjoy excellent views of the backbone of the Smokies from a heath bald (Brushy Mt). As the trail ascends the northern slope of Mt. LeConte, we will walk among large ancient hemlocks, birches, buckeyes, maples, and Carolina silverbells.

This Branch Out event is designed for hikers who:
• are comfortable with extended periods of exertion
• can independently navigate physically challenging and unplanned situations
• are comfortable climbing over or under trees and crossing waterways
• possess the skills and gear required to be safe on the trail, even during inclement weather
Recommended Gear:
• Comfortable and sturdy shoes or boots.
• Food and plenty of water.

Non-Member Fee: Not available. Branch Out events are offered exclusively to GSMA members. Please purchase a membership prior to joining this event.
